All of the mail shows my home address but the name of a person I’ve never heard of. Everything we have received has been packages from companies I know offer free trail offers. So far we have received several Vistaprint packages with blank business cards, A gevalia coffee maker, some columbia house video tapes and a box from “Lipozene Internet” Could this be some kind of a scam? If so whats the point of sending us free stuff? How should I go about dealing with this if we keep receiving stuff?
Contact your local post office. They may be able to stop mail that isn’t in your name. Until then, keep sending the stuff back, don’t open it.
Contact the post office and keep some kind of proof that you let the local postmaster know what’s going on. You are not responsible for anything you didn’t order. You might check your credit report, just to be sure you haven’t been the victim of identity theft.
Just write on the package ‘NOT AT THIS ADDRESS’ and stick it in a postbox. A lot of people get postage for people who used to live at your address, if it’s not your name on it, then it’s not yours.
Someone has decided to play a prank on you and sign you up for tons of offers (or at least whoever they think lives there).
If you don’t recognize the shipper and it comes UPS, refuse the package if you see the driver. For USPS and any packages left at door, mark in big letters RETURN TO SENDER – NOT AT THIS ADDRESS.
Unfortunately, the carriers are required to attempt to deliver anything to the address marked on it. After a while, however, usually the mailperson/ups driver begin to recognize the packages and handle them themselves.
You will be getting a lot of junk mail though. Sorry.
