Hi. I am a Green Card holder. I need to travel to Canada for 1 week – business related. What do I need to do to make sure I can leave the states and safely get back in after my trip is over? I heard that passport or visa are both not required for Canada trips. Is this true? What do I need to do? I don’t want to end up in a situation when Canada will not let me enter or USA will not allow re-entry. Thanks.

always carry your passport and your green card… then you have no worries…
U.S. green card holders do not need a visa t visit Canada. You will need your passport from your home country and you must carry your green card to be allowed back into the U.S. At 1st site below, see 2nd paragraph under “Visitor Visa Exemptions.” On 2nd site see paragraph on International Travel. Only U.S. citizens may travel to Canada by Land without a passport …and only til June 1. If you do not currently have a passport from your home country, you can apply for one at the nearest embassy or consulate of that country in the U.S.
You need a valid passport and your green card to travel to Canada. You don’t need a visa.
