I did cleaning on my own in the past. You can charge one fee if people want you to use there own cleaning products and another to use your own as well. I did it for people I new first to see how things would go. I would not recommend cleaning without insurance if people want you to dust things of value. In some states you don’t need a license.
I clean small offices and actually starting with no employees is the best way to go. That way you can learn the ropes and grow at your own pace without the hassles. Adding employees is a lot of paperwork and trouble when you’re starting out.

Call every insurance agency you can and get quotes on liability insurance. This is important as it protects you from claims-false or not- of damage or theft. It varies a lot so shop it.
