How do you do this trick?
The magician gives his business card to a member of the audience. The member then goes to the other side of the room, away from all the people, and writes down the name of a person they know. The magician then tells the person to color in one of the letters of his name on the business card. He then tells the person to fold the card a couple of times then to come back over by him. The person then holds the card tightly in their fist. The magician never touches it. The magician asks the person to think of the name of the person. The magician then says stuff like “The person is in your homeroom class, and he sits 2 seats infront of you. The person has brown hair. The person’s name is [Correct name on paper]. The person then opens his or her hand and sees that the card is still there, and it is the same one he or she wrote on.
The person writing the name is not in on the trick. Cause a magician did it to my mom, and she wasn’t in on anything.
I HAVE NOOOO IDEA! But wen u find out, lemmi kno!
The person writing the name was in on the trick.
ahy Caramba!!!
the secret means nothing. the secret you use it for means everything.
Yikes………………………
This performer sounds like a “mentalist”. I mentalist is someone who does magic tricks that appear to use powers of the mind, however they are accomplished through common trickery. Noted mentalists include Theodore Anneman (not currently performing), Banachek (a.k.a. Steve Shaw), Derren Brown and Richard Osterlind. These people are “strict” mentalists meaning that they tend to shy away from performing card tricks and other “traditional” magic tricks.
Performers who mix magic and mentalism include: David Blaine and Criss Angel.
One thing I know about magicians is that sometimes spectators tend to exaggerate the effects that they witness. This isn’t to say that they’re purposely lying about it, just that their mind tricks them into seeing something that isn’t there (or not seeing something that is). It happens to everyone.
I’ve studied mentalism quite a bit and as the trick was explained, it doesn’t seem to be possible unless the spectator was in on it. There is a similar trick that involves the magician taking the card and then folding it up and tearing it into tiny pieces before burning it and then correctly guessing what was written. The technique is rather ingenious and if you search enough, you’ll be able to find a book for sale that will explain it to you in great detail.
ha, im luffing it
