I have been doing hair off and on for about 4 years. I have recently found a great salon that I really love and they have enough walk in business that I am busy almost everyday which I am truly thankful for. Having said this, I would like to gain a regular clientele. Any ideas? I have been passing out my business cards to just about all of the clients. (Not to the mean or rude people) and thats about all I have done…I have learned some marketing ideas from business school like monthly postcard coupons that could be redeemed with a referral or when they “bring a friend” and also just a discount on certain items but I have to ask my bosses about that.. Anyway anything will help! Thanks!

you should try posters and stuff ………….. what else did u learn from Business Class get other people 2 advertise 4 u get connections………
My stylist gives $5 per referral, plus she gives $5 off if you book your next appointment at your current appointment. It will take time to build a regular clientele, so you just need to do a really good job and then have your happy clients spread the word. I get asked about my hair and end up referring people… ever since I started seeing my girl (3 or 4 years now) now my best friend, my other friend, my cousin, my best friend’s sister and mom, and a coworker all go see her regularly!
Try getting a unique whole punch from a hobby store and get your business cards and when someone gets say 5 punches they get a free haircut! Also, word of mouth is totally the best advertisement. Put your picture in the local paper with the name of the salon welcoming you there! Hope this helps!
One you have finished with a client, and she is at the counter paying, make sure that you make a booking for her next appointment ,in 6 weeks time for a color or cut. in other word constantly book them in, on the client history card make sure you write her date of birth, and see if you can send them a birthday card. remember also to give them what they want, if a client wishes to have a haircut , before getting her hair permed, do that, don’t ever say well in this salon we do it differently . when you talk to them like that, they will never return
All forms of advertising will attract interest from cards, posters, word of mouth, flyers etc. Have you a local paper you could take out an ad in? I wouldn’t start giving any discounted services until you have a solid client base, invest your money into getting the clients first.
