The paperwork and legal stuff you need to find out on your own, not take the word of people on line.

The best way to advertise is word of mouth. Even if you don’t have kids I am sure you know some people with kids. Do a party or two for free and have cards etc. ready to hand out to other parents that would be interested. An add I would not be so sure to use, but someone that another parent said did a great job at their kids party I definitely would call.

Put up flyers at any kid themed place. Put an ad in the paper. Get your business listed in the Yellow Pages.

    Good luck!!

For cheap and/or free options consider staring a blog at www.blogger.com to get started with a free web-site (I’ve secured my domain name but never built my actual site, the blog is a good draw for now) posting pics of what you can do, rates, options, etc. Advertise in your local papers (cheap) and on Craigslist (free).

As for paperwork, it depends on what your state requires. I had to have a sales permit (even to do live sales at a fair). You might also consider securing your business name with a D/B/A (doing business as) form. Contact your state’s revenue service (peruse their web-site, usually it will have some helpful info for small business owners) for more state specific information. Each state is slightly different.

As for further advertising, you can make up flyers and put them in the paperboxes of neighborhoods that are over-run with children (like mine…) and word will spread if you do a party or two that is successful. Moms always share stuff like that…

Best of luck, sounds like a fun adventure!

Make a flyer to post on billboards outside food stores and places where kids are (chuck e cheese, kids barber, etc.).

Put up flyers around the town and put an add in the newspaper.

Ask local daycare centers if you can put up a flier in their buildings or on their doors.
Newspapers usually don;t charge very much to take out a small ad.
Leave business cards around town. Every time you go out to eat, leave one in the bathroom and on the table.

Word of mouth is best. We have a gal who is a clown and she is so busy that she has to turn people down. Businesses hire her for grand openings ect. Do a good job and believe me people talk. Make sure you have a business card to give to those people you do business with.
